NYC's Pet Fashion Week

This was Punky's very first NYC Pet Fashion Week, or should we say weekend. Anyway, it was pretty cool. Kat and I had so much fun meeting and re-meeting our vendors. It was certainly a lively bunch at PFW Sunday. Met some new vendors that had some pretty amazing stuff.

Keep a look out for some new dog tee's that mock our least favorite super model. Skull and Crossbone neck ties and harness vests. And some new tee's that are Anti- everything. As much as I can't stand christmas shirts and sweaters, we couldn't resist a certain Evil Elf t-shirt, which can be worn all year round. And a killer skull & crossbone dog sweater/coat is on order too. They all will be posted upon arrival, which is in the next couple weeks.

Lots of great new things will be popping up at The Punky Pup this fall and winter. So make sure you keep checking back to see them.

We have added new pet carriers, punk hoodies, dog dishes and treat canisters today. Check them out now!!!!

Falls Coming.....So Look Out Doggies!!!!

It's Saturday night for us night owls, but early Sunday for all you early birds. But in a few(9 to be exact) hours myself and dear friend Kat will be heading a few blocks north to attend the last day of NYC's Pet Fashion Week. Why? You might ask. I'll tell you why........Because there is going to be a ton of really cool vendors and manufacturers showing off there newest and latest pet items for the upcoming fall/winter season. We already carry some of the attending vendors items, so it will be nice to see them again. But there is going to be a lot of vendors that we haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet. I've done some research on a few of them and so far I like what they have to offer. Finally, companies are catering to edgy dogs and owners!! And us here at ThePunkyPup are really diggin' that. It's about damn time these people got on the ball and realized that not all dogs want to wear frilly girly crap. And it makes our job here a little easier as well.

This week we have gotten in new shipments of Punk dog hoodies, and Skull & Crossbone dog sweaters. (So now those pages will not be empty anymore). New pet carriers arrived that will appeal to the more "thrifty" shoppers. And also some new Dirty Dog Dishes and treat canisters arrived as well. All of these new items will be listed on Monday. So make sure you check back. You will not be disappointed!!!

Now onto Dog Coats. We all know that there isn't much out there in Punk dog coats. And this has been a real challenge for us here. But I am happy to report that there is hope!! I found an amazing Mod, Twiggy style dog trench coat, that will be added to the store soon. It's pretty spectacular, and the price will NOT be over the top. It's a "must have" for the 60's loving pup.
As far as warm winter dog coats are concerned, we are thinking about bringing in some black and silver Parkas. But we are keeping all fingers and paws crossed that some of our vendors will blow us away this year, and show us something that we haven't already seen in winter dog wear. If there is any winter dog items you want to see at The Punky Pup let us know.

Time to check out and go to bed early. I'll blog about Pet Fashion Week on Monday.

PS....
New Pict-O-Vision Leather Dog Collars with Skulls and Flames will be arriving this week!!!

Finally a Blog!!

I'm not much of a writer or should I say Blogger, but was informed that ThePunkyPup had to have one. So here it goes. And I will apologize right now for all the bad grammar and typos you all will have to put up with while reading this and any future blogs. So please bare with me.

Since I tend to ramble on and on about things I'll spare you my life history and will do my best to keep these blogs short and to the point.

So here is how The Punky Pup came about:

We have been planning this store ever since we got our first Chinese Crested Dog, Mr.Crowley over 3 years ago. We started making him clothes by sewing punk rock patches on his little black t-shirts, then started deconstructing vintage concert tee's to fit his little naked bod. When we adopted another Chinese Crested - Riff Randell - from Crest-Care 2 years ago, hunching over a sewing machine to sew clothes for two little dogs became daunting and back breaking, but my little punk dogs still needed to have cool clothes. I let my fingers do the walking on the wonderful World Wide Web and ended up making lots of great connections. Living in NYC and always around amazing creative people, we made some connections off the web as well. So after a long time of networking on and off the net we had enough resources to finally start work on the online store.

Now we are going full throttle and growing more and more everyday. We have vendors/manufacturers/artists contacting us now, instead of us hunting them down. That's pretty sweet. If we were rich, the store would be twice as big but we are more than happy with what we have so far. Don't worry though, we are not stopping there. We are still getting new shipments of new product in almost every week. Expect lots more new stuff for the winter like coats, sweaters, hoodies and boots.

This blog is getting longer than I hoped, sorry. So keep reading.

The Punky Pup's goal is to be the pet version of my favorite neighborhood clothing and accessory haunt Trash and Vaudeville on St. Marks Place here in NYC. Trash is too punk to have an actual website, of course.

Other than just selling the coolest pet fashions out there, The Punky Pup is also working with NYC rescue groups and organizations. We want to use this store as a tool to educate the masses about making the world become a No Kill universe but those details will be in another up coming blog.

We already have some punk band logo dog t-shirts available (Sex Pistols, The Clash, Blondie, Misfits and Social Distortion). Don't worry, we are not stopping there, lots more band logo dog tee's will be coming soon. Keep checking back.

And finally I have to plug my favorite Magazine in the world: Paw Print Mag, the coolest little pet magazine by Christopher Ameruoso. Here you can see our very first full page ad made by my amazing, talented and very patient boyfriend Kevin. Look to your left.

Last but not least.......the person responsible for designing the killer Punky Pup logo is my friend Chris. He totally read my mind when I gave him the vague description of what I wanted. He must be psychic or something. People always compliment and ask who designed the logo. So a big thank you to Chris is in order.

Ok, enough already with todays blog.

I promise the future blogs will not be this long. Good thing I didn't put down our life history and interests, right?

Thanks for listening,

Julie
